This 174-year-old architectural marvel, once considered the tallest structure in the Saurashtra region, has been meticulously restored to reflect its original grandeur while preserving its historical essence.

The structure had suffered considerable damage during the devastating 2001 Gujarat earthquake. Recognizing its cultural value, the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation initiated a comprehensive restoration plan under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme. The project was undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹25 crore.
The restoration included detailed work such as conservation, consolidation, and reproduction to ensure that the building retained its authentic character. The project was executed in coordination with the Archaeological Survey of India, ensuring adherence to heritage conservation standards.
The first phase of the restored Bhujio Kotho Jamnagar was inaugurated on September 20, 2025, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further highlighting its national importance.
