Palnapur Woman Murder Case: Missing Woman Found Burnt in Basement, Gold Dispute Leads to Shocking Murder Plot

A chilling crime has surfaced in Palanpur, sending shockwaves across the region. In the latest development of the Palnapur Woman Murder Case, a 36-year-old woman who had been missing for three days was found dead under horrifying circumstances. The victim, identified as Shantiben Akediwala, was allegedly murdered and her body burned in an attempt to destroy evidence. The incident has exposed a deeply disturbing story of betrayal, greed, and premeditated violence.

Burnt Body Discovered in Basement

According to police officials, Shantiben had been reported missing for the past three days. During the search operation, authorities discovered a charred body inside the basement of a locked tractor compound located near the Income Tax office area in Palanpur. Upon closer inspection and identification, the remains were confirmed to be those of Shantiben.

Investigators revealed that the accused had gone to extreme lengths to eliminate evidence. The body was wrapped in a blanket, placed inside a plastic sack, and then doused with petrol before being set on fire. This calculated act indicates a clear attempt to conceal the crime and mislead authorities.

Gold and Cash Dispute Behind the Murder

Initial findings in the Palnapur Woman Murder Case suggest that financial motives played a key role in the crime. As per the FIR and preliminary police investigation, Shantiben had entrusted approximately 79 tolas of gold jewellery along with ₹2 lakh in cash to the accused, Rekhaben and Tejabhai Rathod. The money and valuables were reportedly given for investment in a goat farming business.

However, when Shantiben later demanded the return of her gold and money, the accused allegedly conspired to eliminate her to avoid repayment. Police believe this financial dispute escalated into a brutal and pre-planned murder.

Murder Executed with Chilling Precision

The crime was reportedly carried out on the night of March 22, 2026. Rekhaben allegedly lured Shantiben to her furniture shop near Hanuman Tekri under false pretenses. Once there, Shantiben was given food laced with intoxicating substances, causing her to lose consciousness.

Taking advantage of her vulnerable state, Rekhaben, along with co-accused Rohit Makwana and Vishnubhai Valmiki, allegedly strangled her using a clutch wire. The use of such a method points to a deliberate and cold-blooded execution of the crime.

Family Demands Strict Punishment

The victim’s family has expressed deep anguish and demanded strict action against the accused. A relative, Dr. Bhikhubhai Ramabhai, stated that Shantiben had gone out to buy snacks for her children and to recover her old jewellery and money from the accused. Instead, she fell victim to a betrayal that cost her life.

The family has urged the authorities and the government to ensure that the perpetrators receive the harshest possible punishment, highlighting the need for justice in this tragic case.
