Investigation Continues as Authorities Expand Action Against Suspects and Properties Linked to the Case
Sri Ganganagar: Police in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar have intensified their investigation into the alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old girl, arresting a total of 18 people as the case continues to unfold. Alongside the criminal investigation, the district administration has demolished illegal structures at four hotels that came under scrutiny during the probe, saying the action was taken over alleged violations of building regulations.
The case has drawn widespread public attention and triggered protests across the district, with residents and civil society groups demanding swift justice for the victim and strict action against everyone found responsible.
Three More Arrests Take Total to 18
According to police, three additional suspects were arrested after investigators examined CCTV footage, witness statements, and other evidence collected during the inquiry. Officials allege that the newly arrested individuals visited one of the hotels where part of the incident is believed to have taken place.
The suspects were produced before a local court, which granted police custody to allow investigators to continue questioning them. Police say the investigation remains active and additional arrests cannot be ruled out if new evidence emerges.
The Superintendent of Police in Sri Ganganagar said the investigation is being conducted fairly and that authorities are committed to taking action against every person whose involvement is supported by evidence.
District Administration Acts Against Four Hotels
As the investigation progressed, the district administration launched enforcement action against four hotels that were examined during the probe. Officials said portions of the properties were demolished because they allegedly violated construction and municipal regulations.
Authorities clarified that the demolition drive was carried out under applicable administrative rules concerning unauthorized structures. A large police deployment remained in place throughout the operation to maintain law and order.
Officials also stated that inspections of commercial establishments will continue and that any property found violating legal requirements could face similar action.
Case Dates Back to June 18
Police said the incident began on June 18, when the 13-year-old girl allegedly went missing from her home. Investigators allege that a rickshaw driver took the minor to a hotel, where she was subsequently handed over to other individuals.
According to the police investigation, the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at multiple locations. Investigators have relied on the victim’s statement, CCTV footage, and other evidence to identify the accused. The inquiry has also examined the alleged roles of hotel operators, employees, and other individuals connected to the locations under investigation.
Police have registered cases against multiple accused under relevant legal provisions and say forensic, digital, and documentary evidence is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Public Protests Demand Strict Action
The incident has sparked strong public reaction in Sri Ganganagar. Several social organizations, student groups, women’s rights activists, and political representatives have organized demonstrations demanding a speedy investigation and strict punishment for those found guilty.
Protesters also called for stronger monitoring of hotels operating in violation of regulations and urged authorities to improve measures aimed at protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
Police have appealed to the public to avoid spreading rumours or unverified information while the investigation is underway. Officials said every allegation is being examined carefully and that all legal procedures will be followed before the case is presented in court.
The accused are entitled to due process under law, and the allegations against them will ultimately be tested during judicial proceedings. Authorities have reiterated that the investigation is continuing and that further action will be taken if additional evidence identifies more individuals connected to the case.
The Sri Ganganagar case remains under active investigation, with police and district authorities continuing to pursue all available leads while assuring the public that the matter will be handled in accordance with the law.
