A tragic Lion attack in Amreli Gujarat has claimed the life of a 21-year-old man after he was reportedly attacked by a male Asiatic lion in the Amreli district. According to forest officials, the incident appears to have occurred after the victim and another person allegedly disturbed a lion and lioness during mating. 21-Year-Old Dies in Lion Attack
The victim has been identified as Sohel Munjavar, a 21-year-old resident of the area. Forest officials confirmed that the fatal attack took place on Wednesday in Amreli district, one of the key habitats of the endangered Asiatic lion.
Deputy Conservator of Forests Chirag Amin said that preliminary findings indicate the victim and his friend may have approached or interfered with a pair of lions during their mating period. Wildlife experts note that large predators are particularly protective and aggressive when disturbed during such natural behaviour.
Officials stressed that the investigation is still underway and that all aspects of the incident are being examined before any final conclusions are reached.
Male Lion Captured After the Incident
Following the attack, the forest department launched an immediate operation and successfully captured the male lion believed to have been involved. Officials estimate the animal is between nine and 12 years old.
The victim’s body was recovered from the site and sent to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities said the examination will help establish the exact cause of death and provide further details for the ongoing inquiry.

The incident caused widespread concern among local residents, prompting the forest department to rescue two lions from the area while carrying out further investigations.
The back-to-back incidents have renewed discussions about improving safety measures in regions where lion habitats overlap with human settlements.
Bhavnagar Incident Ends Differently
In a separate incident reported recently from Bhavnagar district, another man narrowly escaped death after being attacked by a lion.
The incident occurred in Garjiya village, where a lion reportedly grabbed the man’s arm with its jaws. Local residents rushed to the scene after hearing cries for help and created loud noise while throwing stones to drive the animal away.
The lion eventually released the victim and retreated into the nearby forest. Officials said the man survived the attack despite sustaining injuries.
The incident highlighted how unpredictable encounters with wild animals can be and reinforced the importance of avoiding direct interaction with wildlife.
