Rajkot Double Murder Case: Two Brothers Killed in Family Property Dispute, Police Launch Detailed Investigation

The Rajkot Double Murder Case has sent shockwaves across the city after two brothers were allegedly killed during a violent family dispute in Somnath Society under the University Police Station limits. The incident, which reportedly stemmed from a long-running property disagreement, has led to cross-complaints from both sides as police continue their investigation.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspected attacker, who was also injured during the confrontation, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital under police security.

Deadly Family Dispute Turns Fatal

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred late at night in Somnath Society, located in Rajkot’s Civil area. Police said the violence broke out during a dispute involving ancestral property within the same family.

The victims have been identified as brothers Suresh Dholakia and Rajesh Dholakia, who suffered fatal injuries during the attack. Investigators believe the confrontation escalated rapidly, resulting in the deaths of both men.

The accused, Hardik Dholakia, was also seriously injured in the incident. Officials said he is receiving medical treatment and will face legal action once doctors declare him fit.

Police Register Murder Case and Cross Complaints

Following the incident, the University Police registered a case of double murder against the injured accused. At the same time, police also recorded a counter-complaint after allegations emerged that Hardik Dholakia was attacked during the confrontation.

Officials said both versions of events are being examined carefully as investigators gather evidence and question witnesses.

The investigation is continuing under the supervision of senior police officers, with forensic evidence, witness statements, and other material being reviewed to establish the exact sequence of events.

Viral Video Becomes Part of Investigation

A video believed to be from the scene has surfaced on social media and is being widely shared online.

The footage reportedly shows chaos inside the residential society as several people gather during the incident. One individual can allegedly be seen carrying what appears to be a weapon while moving through the area.

Police have not officially verified all claims circulating on social media regarding the video. However, officers said they are examining the footage as part of the investigation and will determine whether any additional offences were committed, including the alleged display of illegal weapons.

Authorities have urged the public not to spread unverified information or edited videos that could affect the ongoing investigation.

Senior Police Official Confirms Investigation

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rakesh Desai confirmed that cases have been registered from both sides.

According to the police, a murder case has been filed in connection with the deaths of the two brothers, while the counter-complaint relates to the injuries sustained by the accused during the incident.

The DCP said investigators are conducting a fair and impartial inquiry and are examining every aspect of the case before drawing conclusions.

Property Dispute Emerges as Possible Motive

Preliminary findings indicate that the violence may have been linked to a long-standing disagreement over ancestral property.

Police believe the dispute began after the sale of family land inherited from previous generations. Differences over the distribution of the sale proceeds reportedly created tension among family members for more than two years.

Investigators are now verifying financial records, family statements, and other evidence to determine whether the property dispute directly led to the fatal confrontation.

Officials have stressed that the motive is still under investigation and that conclusions will be based on evidence collected during the probe.

Accused Under Police Watch

Because Hardik Dholakia was injured during the incident, he remains admitted to a private hospital under police protection.

Investigators said formal arrest procedures will be completed after he is medically cleared. Until then, officers continue to collect evidence, record statements from witnesses, and coordinate with forensic experts.

Police have also increased their presence in the locality to maintain law and order and prevent any further escalation between the families involved.

Investigation Continues

The Rajkot Double Murder Case has highlighted how unresolved family property disputes can sometimes escalate into serious acts of violence. While the initial investigation points toward an inheritance-related conflict, police say all angles remain open until the inquiry is completed.

Authorities have appealed to residents to cooperate with investigators and avoid circulating rumours or unverified information online. The case remains under active investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as police complete their evidence collection and legal proceedings.
