Jetpur Murder Case has drawn widespread attention after a man allegedly stabbed his mother’s longtime partner to death in broad daylight in Gujarat’s Rajkot district. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, has sparked discussion after footage circulating on social media appeared to show bystanders witnessing the attack without intervening.
Police have arrested the accused within hours of the incident and launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances that led to the killing.
Victim Identified as Municipal Worker
According to police, the victim has been identified as 35-year-old Kamlesh Vaghela, an employee associated with the Jetpur municipality. The accused, Jayant Vaghela, was taken into custody shortly after the attack.
The incident took place in the Kankiya Plot area of Jetpur. Investigators recorded the statement of the victim’s brother, Kapil, as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Officials said CCTV footage from the area has become an important piece of evidence in the case.
CCTV Captures the Attack
Video footage from a nearby property reportedly shows an argument between Kamlesh and Jayant before the confrontation turned violent. Investigators say the accused allegedly attacked Kamlesh multiple times with a knife.
The footage also appears to capture the victim pleading for his life while the assault continued. Police said the post-mortem examination and preliminary investigation indicate that Kamlesh suffered more than five stab wounds.
The viral circulation of the video on social media has intensified public attention, although authorities have urged people to avoid spreading unverified information related to the case.
Police Probe Possible Motive
According to the police, the investigation has revealed that Kamlesh had been in a relationship with a woman identified as Neeta Naiya for around 12 years. Officials said the two had also signed a relationship agreement.
Police believe the accused, Jayant, is Neeta’s son. Investigators are examining whether longstanding family tensions linked to the relationship may have played a role in the incident.
Authorities said the relationship reportedly began while Neeta’s husband, Kalu Vaghela, was still alive. Police are treating this background as one of the factors under investigation while determining the motive behind the alleged murder.
Family Background Under Investigation
Investigators said Neeta and Kalu had three children-two sons and one daughter. According to information gathered during the investigation, Kamlesh had legally adopted Neeta’s daughter.
Police also stated that Neeta had reportedly been living separately from her two sons for some time. Officers are examining family dynamics and past events to understand whether they contributed to the fatal confrontation.
Officials stressed that the investigation is ongoing and that all relevant evidence is being reviewed before reaching final conclusions regarding motive.
Another Person Seen in Footage
Police said the CCTV footage appears to show another individual present near the scene during the incident. Investigators are working to establish that person’s identity and determine whether they had any involvement in the crime.
At this stage, authorities have not announced any additional arrests. The role of the second individual, if any, will be determined after further questioning and examination of available evidence.
Investigation Continues
The Jetpur Murder Case remains under active investigation as forensic evidence, witness statements and CCTV footage are examined. Police have confirmed that the primary accused is in custody, while further inquiries continue to establish the complete sequence of events.
Officials have appealed to the public to rely on verified information released by law enforcement rather than speculation circulating on social media. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses and the case moves through the legal process.
