More Than Two Dozen Injured
A total of 27 passengers suffered injuries ranging from minor wounds to serious trauma. The injured were transported to Vadodara’s Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital, where emergency medical teams were placed on alert.
Hospital authorities said that several patients were admitted to the Emergency Trauma Centre for specialized treatment. While most victims are reported to be stable, at least one patient remains in critical condition and may require intensive care support.
Some of the injured include men, women, and children who were traveling to Surat for work and other personal commitments.
Survivor Recalls Terrifying Moment
One of the injured passengers, Bansilal, said he was asleep when the collision occurred.
“I was traveling from Rajasthan to Surat for work. I was sleeping when the accident happened. The impact was so sudden and powerful that it felt like an electric shock running through my body,” he said.
He added that two other young men known to him were also traveling on the bus at the time of the crash.
Survivors described scenes of panic immediately after the collision, with passengers crying for help as rescuers worked to reach those trapped inside.
NDRF Details Rescue Efforts
NDRF officials said the control room received information about the accident shortly after dawn, following which rescue teams were immediately deployed.
According to NDRF Commandant Surendra Singh of the 6th Battalion, responders found a heavily damaged passenger bus wedged against the rear of the truck. Rescue personnel used advanced cutting tools to gain access to the vehicle and evacuate victims.
Officials stated that more than two dozen passengers were rescued during the operation, while several bodies were recovered from inside the wreckage and shifted to the hospital for further procedures.
The commandant added that teams thoroughly inspected the vehicle to ensure no passengers remained trapped before concluding the operation.
Hospital Administration on High Alert
Vadodara Deputy Mayor Aditya Patel said emergency services responded quickly after receiving reports of the accident between approximately 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Passengers with minor injuries received immediate first aid at the scene, while critically injured victims were shifted to SSG Hospital without delay. Medical staff, trauma specialists, and hospital administrators coordinated efforts to ensure adequate treatment facilities were available.
Patel said hospital authorities reviewed the availability of medicines, surgical equipment, and blood supplies to handle the emergency. He added that the hospital’s response system was functioning smoothly and all necessary resources had been arranged for patient care.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have begun investigating the circumstances that led to the collision. While preliminary information indicates that the bus crashed into a truck parked on the roadside, officials are expected to examine factors such as visibility, driver fatigue, vehicle speed, and road conditions.
The tragic incident has once again raised concerns about highway safety and the risks associated with long-distance overnight travel. Investigators are expected to submit a detailed report after collecting evidence and statements from witnesses and survivors.
As families mourn the loss of their loved ones, rescue workers, medical staff, and emergency responders continue to assist those affected by one of the deadliest road accidents reported in Vadodara this year.
