Samay Raina Controversy: Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has once again found himself at the centre of a controversy following remarks allegedly made about Kashmiri Pandits and people from Bihar on the latest episode of his show India’s Got Latent 2. The comments have triggered criticism, with BJP MLA Ram Kadam strongly objecting to what he described as insulting references to the Kashmiri Pandit community.

He also questioned the limits of comedy and artistic expression, saying that artists certainly deserve respect for their talent, but there are boundaries when it comes to matters involving people’s faith, emotions and beliefs.

Ram Kadam further argued that deliberately targeting a community in order to gain attention or publicity cannot simply be defended in the name of art or comedy.

He said that whether the person involved is Samay Raina or any other artist, crossing certain limits can hurt people’s sentiments. Kadam questioned why Kashmiri Pandits or people from Bihar should be singled out for jokes and suggested that such targeting could be an intentional publicity strategy.

The comments have added another chapter to the ongoing Samay Raina Controversy, putting renewed attention on the debate over the boundaries of comedy, freedom of expression and sensitivity toward communities.
