Rajkot Shock: Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting 20-Year-Old Woman Four Times in One Night on False Promise of Marriage

A disturbing case from Rajkot has sparked outrage after a 20-year-old woman accused a man of luring her into a relationship with the false promise of marriage and later sexually assaulting her multiple times before abandoning her. Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to arrest the accused.

According to officials from the Aji Dam Police Station, the complaint was filed by the young woman after the accused allegedly assaulted her four times in a single night and later admitted that he was already married.

How the Relationship Began

The victim, a resident of the Jangleshwar area, told police that the incident traces back about six months. While she was on her way to visit her grandmother, she encountered the accused near Bhavani Chowk. The man allegedly handed her a small piece of paper with his mobile number written on it.

Curious, the woman later contacted him, and the two began speaking regularly over the phone. During these conversations, the man identified himself as Sohil Ibrahim Notiyar and claimed to run a mobile repair shop named “A.P. Mobile” in the Mandadungar area of Rajkot.

Over time, their friendship developed into what the victim believed was a romantic relationship. To gain her trust, the accused reportedly gifted her a mobile phone and repeatedly assured her that he intended to marry her.

Family Discovers the Phone Conversations

According to the police complaint, the situation escalated on March 27, 2026, when the victim’s father discovered her talking on the phone with the accused. Angry over the matter, he scolded her and allegedly broke the phone.

The woman informed Sohil about the incident. Investigators say the accused then persuaded her to leave home and come to him, promising that he would marry her and take responsibility for her future.

Woman Taken to Relative’s House

On the night of March 31, 2026, the woman left her house and reached Pranami Chowk, where the accused picked her up on a motorcycle. From there, he took her to a relative’s house in Bhimraonagar, located in the Mandadungar area.

The victim alleged that around 11 p.m. that night, the accused again assured her that he would marry her. However, she told police that he then forcibly assaulted her despite her objections. According to her statement, the accused allegedly assaulted her four times during that same night.
