Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway Accident: A tragic road accident on the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway claimed the life of a woman and left more than twenty passengers injured on Sunday evening after a private bus overturned near Kariyana village in Ahmedabad district.
According to preliminary information, the bus was carrying residents of Bhavnagar who were returning home after attending a family function in Ahmedabad. The accident occurred when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and plunge off the roadway. The incident triggered panic among passengers and prompted an immediate rescue operation involving local residents, emergency responders, and police officials.
Bus Carrying Family Group Meets With Accident
Officials said the private bus, bearing registration number GJ-01-DY-4506, was carrying around 23 passengers at the time of the accident. The vehicle was travelling from Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar and reached the Kariyana village area under the Koth police station limits at approximately 7:30 pm on June 21.
Witnesses reported that the bus suddenly lost balance before overturning and coming to rest below the road level. The impact left several passengers trapped and injured inside the vehicle.
Local residents were among the first to reach the scene and assisted in rescuing passengers before emergency teams arrived. Police personnel and medical responders quickly launched relief and rescue operations to evacuate the injured.

Health officials confirmed that 61-year-old Ranjanben Dashadiya, one of the passengers on board, succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the crash. Her death has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a routine return journey for the group.
Among the remaining passengers, 13 sustained minor to moderate injuries and continue to receive treatment at Dholka Government Hospital.
However, nine passengers suffered serious injuries and were referred to Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital in Sola for advanced medical care. Medical authorities stated that these patients required specialised treatment due to the nature of their injuries.
Family members and relatives of the victims rushed to hospitals after learning about the accident, while officials continued monitoring the condition of those undergoing treatment.

Investigators have not yet determined the exact cause of the crash. Initial findings suggest that the driver may have lost control of the steering, leading to the vehicle overturning.
