Former Student Held in Connection With Alleged Sexual Exploitation and Online Harassment of Teacher
Rajkot police have arrested a man accused in the high-profile Rajkot Teacher Rape Case, ending a search that lasted for more than two months. The accused, identified as Dhruval Desai, was taken into custody from Jamkandorna after remaining absconding following multiple complaints filed against him.
The case revolves around allegations made by a school teacher who claimed that her former student deceived her with promises of marriage, sexually exploited her over an extended period, and later circulated her private photographs and videos on social media.
Arrest Made After Extended Search
According to police officials, the complainant approached Gandhigram Police Station in March and filed a case alleging rape and cheating. The woman stated that the accused had studied under her years earlier when he was a Class 10 student. Their lives reportedly crossed paths again more than a decade later through social media.
Investigators said the accused allegedly developed a close relationship with the teacher after reconnecting online. The woman claimed that he repeatedly assured her that he intended to marry her, which led her to trust him. Based on these assurances, the relationship continued for nearly one and a half years.
Police said the accused had been wanted in connection with both the rape complaint and a separate case involving the alleged circulation of private content belonging to the complainant.
Allegations of Financial and Emotional Exploitation
The teacher alleged that during the course of the relationship, the accused not only maintained physical relations with her but also took approximately ₹7 lakh from her. She claimed that despite repeatedly promising marriage, he later married another woman.
According to the complaint, the accused concealed important details about his personal life while continuing to assure the teacher that he would marry her. The woman told investigators that she discovered only later that he had become engaged to another woman during the period in which he was allegedly maintaining the relationship with her.
The complainant further alleged that after she sought legal action, the accused shared private chats, photographs, and videos related to their relationship, leading to an additional police complaint.
Relationship Allegedly Continued for More Than a Year
In her statement to police, the teacher said she is divorced and lives alone. She alleged that the accused became aware of her personal circumstances through mutual acquaintances and school contacts before reaching out to her through Facebook in 2024.
She claimed that from mid-2024 until late 2025, the accused maintained regular contact with her and frequently visited her residence. According to her account, he treated her as a life partner and repeatedly spoke about their future together.
The woman also alleged that the accused accompanied her on several trips across Gujarat and on religious pilgrimages. She further claimed that the two traveled to Thailand together for a 10-day visit during the course of their relationship.
Suicide Attempt and Viral Videos
The case gained additional attention after reports emerged that the accused allegedly attempted suicide in Varanasi by consuming phenyl after the complaint was registered against him. Police said he subsequently remained out of reach for an extended period.
Authorities also investigated allegations that private photographs and videos of the complainant were circulated online. The teacher claimed that these materials were shared without her consent, causing further distress and leading to separate legal proceedings.

Investigation Continues
Police officials have confirmed that Dhruval Desai has now been arrested and legal proceedings are underway. Investigators are examining the allegations made in both complaints and gathering evidence related to the claims of sexual exploitation, financial fraud, and online harassment.
