Surat Amroli Murder Case: Minor Dispute Turns Fatal, 20-Year-Old Youth Stabbed to Death

A shocking incident in Gujarat has once again highlighted how small disputes can escalate into deadly violence. The Surat Amroli Murder Case has sent shockwaves across the city after a 20-year-old man lost his life in a brutal stabbing incident triggered by a trivial argument over smoking. The crime took place late Sunday night, March 29, in the Amroli area of Surat, leaving residents in fear and mourning.

How a Small Argument Led to a Tragic Death

According to police reports, the incident occurred in Shriram Nagar Society in Amroli. What began as a minor disagreement over smoking quickly turned into a violent confrontation.

The accused, identified as Shoaib alias Bengali, objected to a street vendor smoking a cigarette near his residence. The vendor, who ran a pani puri stall in the area, was reportedly told not to smoke near Shoaib’s house. This led to a heated argument between the two.

Local residents initially intervened and managed to calm the situation. At that moment, it appeared the dispute had been resolved. However, underlying tensions remained, which later reignited and led to a fatal outcome.

Dispute Escalates Again Later in the Day

Later that afternoon, the situation took a serious turn. The pani puri vendor returned to the same location with a group of his friends. The earlier disagreement over smoking resurfaced, and both sides engaged in another round of verbal abuse and confrontation.

Eyewitnesses reported that the argument soon intensified, with both parties exchanging insults and getting physically aggressive. The atmosphere in the locality became tense, as residents feared the situation might spiral out of control.

Victim Tried to Intervene, Lost His Life

At this point, 20-year-old Mahendra Babulal Rajput, a resident of the same area, stepped in to defuse the situation. Acting with good intentions, Mahendra tried to mediate between the groups and restore peace.

He managed to convince the pani puri vendor and his companions to leave the spot, temporarily bringing the situation under control. Unfortunately, his attempt to resolve the conflict led to a tragic consequence.

“Why Did You Interfere?” – Accused Turns Violent

After the vendor and his friends left, Shoaib reportedly became furious with Mahendra. He questioned why Mahendra had interfered and allowed the other group to leave.

The argument between Shoaib and Mahendra quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, Shoaib allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked Mahendra near house number 2050 in the society.

Mahendra was stabbed in the back with significant force. The sudden and violent attack left him critically injured, collapsing on the spot.

Victim Dies on the Spot

The injuries proved fatal. Before help could arrive, Mahendra succumbed to his wounds at the scene. Witnesses described the incident as horrifying, with the young man lying in a pool of blood.

The death of the 20-year-old has deeply affected the local community. Shriram Nagar Society, usually a peaceful neighborhood, fell silent as news of the murder spread. Family members of the victim were left devastated, with emotional scenes unfolding at the location.

Mahendra was reportedly a hardworking young man who had been living in the area for over a year and was associated with embroidery work.

Police Swiftly Arrest the Accused

Following the incident, the Amroli police acted promptly. A team of officers, along with senior officials, rushed to the crime scene as soon as they received information about the murder.

The victim’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, and multiple teams were formed to track down the accused.

Using technical surveillance and local intelligence, the police successfully arrested Shoaib alias Bengali within a few hours of the crime. He was caught near Ring Road in the Amroli area.
