Vadodara Murder Case: Husband Dies by Suicide After Allegedly Attacking Wife With Cutter, Police Investigating Domestic Dispute

A tragic Vadodara murder case has shocked residents of the city’s Waghodia Road area after a domestic dispute allegedly turned violent late on Sunday night. Police said a man attacked his wife with a sharp cutter before dying by suicide inside their home. The woman survived the assault and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital, while authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Domestic Dispute Ends in Tragedy

The incident took place at Uma Park Society on Waghodia Road in Vadodara. According to preliminary police findings, a heated argument broke out between the couple during the night. Investigators believe the husband, identified as Pradeep Kishanrao Gangude, allegedly assaulted his wife, Jyotiben, with a cutter, causing severe injuries to her neck and other parts of her body.

After the attack, Pradeep reportedly hanged himself inside the house using a sari. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Jyotiben was rushed to Sayaji Hospital in critical condition. Doctors are treating her for serious injuries, and she was reported to be unconscious when admitted.

Police have stated that her condition remains under medical observation.

Children Were Locked in a Separate Room

One of the most disturbing aspects of the Vadodara murder case is that the couple’s two children were inside the house at the time of the incident.

According to initial reports, the accused allegedly locked both children in a separate room before attacking their mother. Unable to intervene, the children later managed to contact their grandfather by phone and informed him that their mother had been attacked.

The call prompted family members and local residents to rush to the house.

Neighbours Respond After Hearing Cries

Residents of Uma Park Society said they heard loud cries and commotion coming from the house shortly after the incident. Concerned neighbours gathered outside and helped rescue the children from the locked room.

As the main entrance remained inaccessible, neighbours reportedly broke a window to look inside the residence. They found Pradeep hanging from a ceiling hook in the hall. By the time emergency responders arrived, he had already died.

Police and forensic teams later reached the scene to collect evidence and begin their investigation.

Couple Had Been Married for Around 15 Years

Investigators said the couple had been married for approximately 15 years and were raising two children, a son and a daughter.

Jyotiben is the daughter of a transport businessman from Ahmedabad, while both she and her husband were employed in private companies. Family members told police that the couple had been experiencing marital discord for some time, although the exact circumstances leading to the violent incident are still being examined.

Authorities are also trying to determine whether there had been previous complaints or warning signs of domestic conflict.

Victim Suffered Multiple Injuries

Hospital sources indicated that Jyotiben sustained serious injuries not only to her neck but also near one eye and on one of her hands during the alleged attack. Doctors continue to monitor her condition closely.

Police said her statement will be recorded once her health improves, as it could provide crucial details about what happened before the assault.

Police Register Case, Investigation Underway

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Kapurai Police have registered a case against the deceased husband and initiated further legal proceedings. Investigators are collecting forensic evidence, speaking to relatives and neighbours, and reviewing the sequence of events to establish the full circumstances behind the incident.

Officials have not disclosed any final conclusions regarding the motive, stating that the investigation is ongoing.

Domestic Violence Remains a Serious Concern

The Vadodara murder case has once again highlighted the devastating consequences that unresolved domestic disputes can have on families. Experts have long stressed the importance of recognising early signs of domestic violence and seeking timely support through family counselling, community assistance, or legal intervention before conflicts escalate into life-threatening situations.

As police continue their investigation, the focus remains on the victim’s recovery and ensuring that all facts surrounding the incident are thoroughly examined. The case has left the local community deeply saddened, particularly because two young children witnessed the aftermath of the tragedy and lost their father while their mother continues to fight for her life in hospital.
